Collaborations & Curatorial Projects

I love building with others. Some of my favorite past collective projects are listed here.

From Hold to Horizon

From Hold to Horizon is an immersive voyage toward Liberation, an inquiry into our complicated relationship with the ocean, sovereignty, and economies of capture. Inside its walls is a space for locating oneself. Journals detailing the nineteenth century whaling voyages of Captain William Martin, one of New England's most prominent Black whaling-ship captains, will serve as our guide, leading us to explore a number of questions. Who are we? Where are we? What is happening around us? What are we experiencing together?

the dead teach me how to die by letting me wildly live

Nature is a companion who comforts us, a technology we wield, and a teacher who guides us.

Part of Brown Arts Institute’s Ignite series, The dead teach me how to die by letting me wildly live: the exhibition showcased the work of Laura Brown-Lavoie, Brooke Erin Goldstein, Jazzmen Lee-Johnson, Jordan Seaberry, and Kei Soares Cobb. Through their visual, literary and auditory artwork, this exhibition explored navigational maps for life and death gifted to us by nature, from subterranean realms to astral planes.

Leavings

What do you keep? What do you share? What is documented? What is archived? What do we fear we are going to forget?

Leavings was a communal activity developed in collaboration with Holly Ewald for the Rhode Island Humanities anniversary event 50Fest in October 2023. The intention of this work was to create a space to reflect on our memories of the natural world, provide a container to share those memories with others, and offer an opportunity to document the process.
